A Visit with a Most Delightful and Gracious Castle Rock Business Owner

Have you ever stepped into Copperfalls Aveda Spa and Salon? From the outside, the front of the shop is beautiful, not just its setting on Perry Street in beautiful, Downtown Castle Rock, but the ascetics of the shop-front’s presentation as well as the signage. Everything says, “Come In”, and when you do walk in, the beauty, cleanliness, and layout of the lower-level salon is invites a knowing that you are in a professional, yet peaceful place. Upstairs is another entire aspect. The ‘Spa’ is quiet, relaxing, and soothing to the soul. The aromas and cleansing sounds will take to you to a place of peace and comfort. I know. I was there.

Stefanie Catalino Palko was gracious to make time for a visit and interview. Usually, my interviews take only a short time due to the time constraints of our local business owners. Our visit lasted at least an hour. There was a calming presence I continued to hang on to. For this selfless time from Stefanie, I am grateful. Here are just a couple of things we discussed, including her history from beginning till today.

Stefanie Catalino Palko first opened her Copperfalls Spa in Castle Rock in March of 2000: The business of her dreams, a place of wellness, where guests are treated “from the inside out” opened its doors. Stefanie says, “It’s a feeling. Everything comes back to wellness.” This she believes for herself, staff and especially for Copperfalls Guests.

“I wanted to do something for the environment, after feeling for so long that I had been taking from it”

When Stefanie opened her doors for the first time, the multi-business facility on Perry Street hosted a chocolate shop, bicycle shop, artsy shop, and a bank. Her Aveda philosophy was born, and her vision of a ‘Spa’ became a reality. After 2009, the salon aspect became a part of the Copperfalls vision. In the beginning there were four chairs for operators. Today there are ten. Stefanie is truly a successful entrepreneur and business owner.
